Getting to know our Saskatchewan Women Curlers

1. Name – Allison Elizabeth Gerhardt

2. Nicknames - Allie

3. Who do you curl with – I curl second on team Patty Hersikorn, with Shelley Madsen playing lead and Jill Shumay playing third.

4. How long have you guys curled together? This is our second season together as a full team; the others have curled together before, I’m the newbie!

5. Occupation – I am the Controller at Phenomenome Discoveries Inc.  It’s a cancer research company in S’toon.

6. Current Residence - Saskatoon

7. Hometown - Regina

8. Family - My parents still live in Regina, though are both now retired and spend most of the winter in the states.  I have an older brother in Medicine Hat.  And I grew up with a dog named Mitzi.  I managed to trick my fiancé into proposing to me in the summer and we are planning a September 2011 wedding!

9. Tattoos? I don’t like pain – none for me.  Though I am a huge fan of the temporary Rider tattoos.

10. Favourite non-alcoholic drink - Chocolate Milk.

11. Favourite alcoholic drink - My team would want me to say Red Wine, but it’s actually a paralyzer.

12. Favourite event to curl in?  I love the Colonial in Saskatoon as it’s at our home club and fun to curl with friends and family around!

13. Which curler or team did you idolize growing up and why? Growing up in Regina, it’s the Sandra Schmirler team….

14. Of all the curlers past and present who would be the most entertaining curler and why?  Past would be Guy Hemmings.  He always seemed funny.  And was funny looking.

15. Let’s get to know your teammates quickly by using colors and animals!
Patty is a red-yellow wolf.  She is playful, energetic, and strong-willed; the leader of our curling pack.  Wolves are very protective of their team and teach cooperation.
Shelley is a blue beaver.  She is the caring, helpful, and nurturing builder and gatherer on our team; building the ends for us and keeping the team organized.
Jill is a orange otter.  She is friendly, approachable, and easy-going.  Why an otter?  Because they are mischievous creatures that are the symbol of laughter, and Jill is funny.  If there was an animal that was bad at coin tosses, Jill would be this animal too.
And I am a green bear because I am impatient and calming and love to hibernate any chance I can get and sleep!
