GETTING TO KNOW OUR SASKATCHEWAN VOLUNTEERS
Name – Kerry Tarasoff
1. Current Residence – Saskatoon, SK

2. Hometown – Saskatoon, SK

3. Current curling club – Sutherland Curling Club

4. Occupation – Finance Manager, City of Saskatoon

5. Family – Father, John Tarasoff (mother passed away last Sept); wife - Lori McGeary; Children - Lauren (20) and Jordan (17)

6. Event/organizations you are volunteering for this year – Chairing of the Brier

7. What is your favourite part about volunteering? Its a very rewarding experience like any volunteer work. It is very satisfying to know that the time and effort you put into something will benefit someone else and in this case, will be for the betterment of our great sport.

8. Why should people go and watch or participate in the Brier? The Tim Hortons Brier is the crown jewel of all curling events and it will be in our back yard in March 2012. There is no event like this where all provinces and territories are represented at a national championship and 13,000 fans can watch four games take place at the same time in front of them. And to top it all off, the Brier Patch will be the largest party place in the country where 5,000 curling fans meet to enjoy the music, drinks and company of their friends, old and new. The Brier is more than a curling event... it is a sports festival. It is even more special in Saskatoon as this city has a history of presenting the best Briers by setting new standards every time it comes here. It has been attendance records, or new ideas that make the event unique. To be a part of this event is a long lasting rewarding experience as a volunteer or as a fan. The memories of times with friends will be forever and because this is a curling festival, curling fans are the friendliest and know how to have fun. New friends will be made and old ones will be made stronger. You just gotta be there!!

9. What is your most memorable curling moment?
I think making it to the final of the 2003 Provncial Tankard. Although we lost the game it was the culmination of the great season including winning two major spiels back to back in Alberta, and qualifying for the Canada Cup.
10. Who is your favourite curler and why? My all time favourite curler was Harvey Mazinke who represented Saskatchewan at the Brier and lost the World Championship in 1973. He was one of the best curlers in the province when I was growing up and just learning to curl. I remember following him during the Brier and the World Championship that was played in Regina that year.
