SWCT Curling Talk [October 23rd]

DID YOU KNOW?
The Prince Albert SWCT event is still looking for teams.  Currently, there are 9 teams registered (see below).  In order for teams participating to earn CTRS points at this event, there must be a minimum of 12 teams entered in the event.  If you are considering entering a team, please contact Pat Bibby as soon as possible at 764-2421 or bibby@sasktel.net.

Manitoba Lotteries Women’s Curling Classic
Winnipeg, MB
Oct. 19-22nd
Congratulations to Saskatoon’s Stefanie Lawton on winning this event!  Lawton qualified out of the C event, edging out Regina’s Amber Holland 4-3 in the qualifying game.  Lawton proceeded through the playoff round, taking on Edmonton’s Laura Crocker in the quarter-final and Calgary’s Shannon Kleibrink in the semi-final, before overcoming Ontario’s Rachel Homan with a final score of 6-4.

Moose Jaw Women’s Sask Tour Spiel
Moose Jaw, SK
Oct 19-21
Ros Stewart beat Sherilee Orsted 6-2 in the final, taking home $2600.  Orsted went home with $1600.  Orsted won against Sherry Just 8-7 in the semi-final after qualifying out of the A event.  Stewart qualified out of the C event to reach the playoffs.  In the quarter-final, she downed Candace Chisholm 7-4, before moving on to beat Lorraine Arguin 5-4 in the semi-final.  Just and Arguin both earned $1200 each.  Also qualifying was Michelle Englot, who fell to Just in the quarter-final.  She and Chisholm left with $700 each.

Team rosters must be declared on a SCA Playdown Registration Form. Competition Fee including the CCA fee must be paid to the Region Director, or the SCA Office by November 1, 2012. Points accumulated prior to November 1, 2012 will count only if fees and forms are submitted to the Region Director or the SCA office by November 1, 2012. If registrations are received after November 1, 2012, only points obtained from the date of receipt of registration will be eligible.

SWCT Curling Talk [October 16th]


EVENTS LAST WEEKEND

MNP Charity Classic
Medicine Hat, AB
October 12-15
Congratulations to Chantelle Eberle’s team from Regina on winning this event! Eberle took on Lisa Eyamie of High River, AB, winning the final 7-2 and going home with $8000.  Eberle qualified out of the C event, taking on Bingyu Wang in the quarter-final and Amy Nixon in the semi-final.  Also participating in the event were several other Sask teams, including Brett Barber, Penny Barker, Trish Paulsen, Deanna Doig, and Kelly Wood.  Deanna Doig just missed the playoffs, losing a C qualifier to Edmonton’s Tiffany Game.

Nutana Women’s Sask Tour Bonspiel
Saskatoon, SK
October 12-14
The final game in this event featured Regina’s Michelle Englot and Larisa Murray.  Englot downed Murray 6-4 in the end, taking home $1600, while Murray received $1200.  Englot beat Nancy Martin of Saskatoon in the semi-final, after qualifying out of the A event early on Saturday.  Murray also qualified out of the A, and took on Mandy Selzer of Balgonie in the semi-final.  Selzer edged out Debbie Folk 4-3 to reach the quarter-final, winning herself $900.  Martin beat Jill Shumay 6-5 in the quarter-final to advance.  Martin receives $900, while Shumay and Folk each take home $700.

SWCT Curling Talk [October 9th]

EVENTS LAST WEEKEND

Rocktoberfest
Regina, SK
October 5-8, 2012
Candace Chisholm of Maryfield won the event, taking home $4500 and downing Regina’s Michelle Englot 7-6.  Chisholm overcame Kerri Einarson 5-4 in the quarter-finals, followed by Larisa Murray 6-3 in the semi-final.  Englot took on Nancy Martin, beating her 8-4, before her 6-4 win against Kelly Wood in the semi-final.  Einarson and Martin each pocketed $800; Wood and Murray took home $1500.  Englot received $2500 for the weekend.  Also qualifying were Chantelle Eberle and Deanna Doig, who also received $800.

Curlers Corner Autumn Gold Curling Classic
Calgary, AB
October 5-8, 2012
Participating SK teams included Trish Paulsen, Amber Holland and Stefanie Lawton.  Lawton qualified for the playoffs, losing in the quarter-finals to Shannon Kleibrink and bringing home $4000.  Paulsen reached a C semi-final, losing to Lisa Eyamie of High River, AB.  Holland was defeated early in the C event by Laura Crocker of Edmonton.
