SWCT Curling Talk [March 19th]

EVENTS FROM THE LAST FEW WEEKS

Provincial Master's Women's Championships
Granite Curling Club, Saskatoon, SK
February 27-March 3, 2013
Advancing to the page playoff were Jacqueline Swiderski and Merle Kopach from pool A, and Debra Thierman and Lenore Morrison from Pool B.  In the A1 vs B1 game, Kopach defeated Thierman 7-6, giving herself a bye to the final game.  Swiderski overcame Morrison 9-3 in the A2 vs B2 game and moved on to play Thierman in the semi-final.  Thierman emerged with an 8-5 win and advanced to the final, giving her a second chance at Kopach.  Kopach won the final over Theirman with a score of 8-5. Kopach will represent Saskatchewan at the Canadian Masters Curling Championships in Thunder Bay, ON from April 8-14, 2013. Congratulations to Team Kopach!

Dominion Women's Provincial Championships
Rosetown, SK
March 8-10, 2013
This event's page playoff featured Nicole Beausoleil vs Darlene Gillies in the game between C event qualifiers.  Beausoleil overcame Gillies with a score of 7-5 and advanced to the semi-final.  In the A vs B game, Jana Tisdale beat Heather Burnett 6-1 and advanced to the final.  Burnett proceeded to win againts Beausoleil in the semi-final, 9-3, and found herself facing Tisdale a second time in the final.  This time, Burnett was victorious, with a final score of 5-4.  Team Burnett will represent Saskatchewan at the Dominion Canadian Curling Club Championships in late 2013.  Congratulations ladies!

Provincial Women's Juvenile Championships
Shaunavon, SK
March 14-17, 2013
Saskatoon's Kristen Streifel was the undisputed champion of this event, winning the A, B and C events over Brooke Tokarz in the Juvenile Championships.  This meant a playoff round was not required.  Congratulations to Team Streifel!

Pomeroy Inn and Suites Prairie Showdown
Grande Prairie, AB
March 14-17, 2013
Participating Sask teams were Amber Holland and Stefanie Lawton.  Lawton missed the playoffs, finishing the round robin in her pool with a 2-3 record.  Holland advanced to the playoff round with a round robin record of 3-2 in her pool.  Holland defeated Shannon Kleibrink 6-4 and advanced to the semi-final against Ontario's Tracy Horgan.  Horgan narrowly defeated Holland with a score of 6-5.  Holland takes home $5600 for her finish.
