SWCT Curling Talk [September 25th]

Ladies! Just a quick update to hold us over until next week.  We have a few important things to tell you about:

Rocktoberfest at the Callie in Regina is our next SWCT event, and there are 6 remaining spots that must be filled! The event runs from October 11-14, 2013. Please contact the Callie Curling Club to register your team as soon as possible.

The Saskatoon Nutana SWCT spiel ran from September 20-22, 2013. Winning the event was Michelle Englot, who defeated Ros Stewart in the final, with a score of 7-4.  This win earns Englot $2600, and Stewart earns $1700.  Stewart advanced to the final after eliminating Mandy Selzer in the quarter-final, and then Chantelle Eberle in the semi-final.  Englot had to overcome Trish Paulsen in a quarter-final, and Lana Vey in the other semi-final. Vey and Eberle each took home $1100, while Paulsen and Selzer earned $750 each for qualifying.

Register your team for CTRS points if you have not already done so! The deadline to register for CTRS points is October 31, 2013. You can go to the following link to register, and there is no fee to do this.

IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER

- To register an event for CTRS points, you must contact Gerry Geurts with the CCA at gerry@curlingzone.com.  The deadline to register an event is October 15, 2013.

- To vie for the SWCT provincial spot, all participants must be affiliated members of the SCA. Team rosters must be declared on a SCA Playdown Registration Form. Competition Fee including the CCA fee must be paid to the Region Director, or the SCA Office by, November 1, 2013. Points accumulated prior to November 1, 2013 will count only if fees and forms are submitted to the Region Director or the SCA office by November 1, 2013. If registrations are received after November 1, 2013, only points obtained from the date of receipt of registration will be eligible. 

- Registration for the following competitions can be done online from the SCA website: http://curlsask.ca/competitions/

- The entry deadline for the Women’s open Northern and Southern playdowns is 12:00PM, Tuesday, December 3, 2013 (as per the CurlSask website).

- Entry deadline for Junior Women's Q-Spiels are 6:00 PM, the Monday prior to the start of the bonspiel.  Q-Spiel #1 deadline is November 4, 2013. Q-Spiel #2 deadline is November 11, 2013. Q-Spiel #3 deadline is November 25, 2013 (as per the CurlSask website).
- Please refer to CurlSask website for the entry deadline for the Senior Women's Q-Spiels.
- The entry deadline for the Master Women's Provincials is 12:00 PM, Tuesday, February 4, 2014 (as per the CurlSask website).
- The entry deadline for the Juvenile regional playdowns is 12:00 PM, Tuesday, February 18, 2014 (as per the CurlSask website).
- The entry deadline for the Dominion Women’s regional playdowns is 12:00PM, Tuesday, February 11, 2014 (as per the CurlSask website).

SWCT Curling Talk [September 17th]

Well, the 2013-2014 curling season has officially begun!  The SWCT committee is working hard to make changes for this season based on your feedback, so please feel free to email us and let us know how we are doing.  We are open to new ideas, and we are looking for new committee members!  You can contact the SWCT at saskwct@ymail.com or speak to one of the committee members directly. RECENT EVENTS

The first weekend of the season was a successful one for Saskatchewan women! Here are the results:

The Shootout @ The Saville Center

September 12-15, 2013

Edmonton, Alberta

Participating Saskatchewan teams were Amber Holland, Stefanie Lawton, and Chantelle Eberle.  The final featured Eberle, who qualified from the A event, against Crystal Webster.  Eberle lost the match 10-6, but took home $3500.  Lawton also made it into the playoff round, losing a quarter-final to Heather Nedohin with a score of 5-2.  Lawton scored $1500 for the weekend.  Holland just missed the playoffs, losing 5-3 to Lawton in the C qualifier.
