SWCT Curling Talk (September 28)

Did you know???

This will be the second year that the SWCT will be sponsoring teams to participate in the SCA High Performance Camp which will be held in Saskatoon October 1 - 3. The four SWCT sponsored teams are: Brandee Borne, Amanda Labach, Susan Lang, and Robyn Silvernagle.

Results
For the weekend of September 24-27:

Amber Holland finished 5 – 0 in her pool and defeated Sherry Middaugh in the final to claim the Schmirler Curling Classic presented by Bank of America title.  Chantelle Eberle and Stefanie Lawton finished 4 – 1 in their pools and met in the first round of playoffs where Eberle defeated Lawton, then losing to Holland in the semi-final. 
Other results from the spiel were Michelle Englot and Sherilee Orsted 3 - 2, Heather Burnett 2 - 3, Brett Barber, Susan Lang, Brooklyn Lemon, Trish Paulsen and  Cindy Ricci finished 1 - 4, and Mandy Selzer, and Robyn Silvernagle finished 0 - 5.

Important Dates to Remember
- The entry deadline for Women’s Open North/South entries is 6:00PM, Tuesday, December 14, 2010 according to the SCA Website.
- To vie for the CTRS and SWCT provincial spot all participants must be affiliated members of the SCA. Team rosters need to be declared on a SCA Playdown Registration Form. Competition Fee including the CCA Fee must be paid to the Region Director, or the SCA Office, by November 1, 2010. Points accumulated prior to November 1, 2010 will count only if fees and forms are submitted to the Region Director or the SCA Office by November 1, 2010. Registrations received after November 1, 2010 will allow the team to accumulate points only from the date of registration received.
- Deadline for teams and events to register for CTRS points is October 31st, 2010, go to http://teams.curlingzone.com/index.php?task=Register&ctrs=1 to register. Registering for CTRS points is free and different than registering for playdowns.

Getting to know our Saskatchewan Women Curlers
1. Name – Linda Anne Burnham

2. Nicknames - We have not assigned any nicknames - or we are all just too nice to use them!   

3. Who do you curl with – Susan Lang skips, I play third, Donna Ell plays second and Pat Bell plays lead.   

4. How long have you guys curled together? We are going into our second season as a team. Susan and Pat have curled together in years prior, and Donna and I have curled together in years prior.

5. Occupation – I am self employed - I run my business from home, and broker employee benefits to businesses.

6. Current Residence - Currently reside in Regina, as do all my teammates

7. Hometown - My hometown is Summerberry Sask - - I grew up on a farm just north of there. Does anyone know where Summerberry is ? ? 

8. Family - yes I have some. Mom & Dad, an older brother, a younger brother, and a younger sister. - - they all curl.  I have two sons - Brodie and Daylee - both single - - and have a grand-puppy named Dexter

9. Tattoos? Oh yes, tattoos - - that is on my bucket list - - although it is at the bottom of the bucket !

10. Favourite non-alcoholic drink - (now this is boring ) - water !

11. Favourite alcoholic drink - How long a list can I make ? ?   Rum, wine & beer - - still have not tried mixing them prior to them reaching my stomach !

12. Favourite event to curl in?  It really doesn't matter what the event is - - I have had great fun in any of them

13. Which curler or team did you idolize growing up and why? Joyce McKee and Vera Pezer - - during University years, they dominated Saskatchewan - and being in Saskatoon - we played them often and had to learn how to beat them - mostly mentally !

14. Of all the curlers past and present who would be the most entertaining curler and why?  I find the sport entertaining - - and because their individuality stands out - - I would say John Morris, and Guy Hemmings - -for different reasons

15. Let’s get to know your teammates quickly using colors.
Susan would be 'pink'  - her character shows lots of variety, unique and spontaneous.    
Linda would be 'blue'  -  true blue, creative, and adventurous.    
Donna would be 'black & white'  -  need we say more!              
Pat would be ' green'  -  down to earth,  no fuss,  get it done!
