SWCT Curling Talk [November 6th]


EVENTS LAST WEEKEND

Red Deer Curling Classic
Red Deer, AB
November 2-5, 2012
Competing in this event were Trish Paulsen, Kelly Wood, Brett Barber and Deanna Doig.  All of the teams missed qualifying for the playoff round; however, Paulsen came close, losing a C qualifier to Switzerland’s Silvana Tirinzoni.

Prince Albert Business Girls’ Cash Spiel
Prince Albert, SK
November 2-4, 2012
The event was a success, and ran with 12 teams!  Amanda Labach was the champion of this spiel, beating Jill Shumay 4-3 in the final and winning $1600.  Labach qualified out of the C event, and went on to overcome Penny Barker in the quarter-final 7-5, before beating Larisa Murray 8-3 in the semi-final.  Shumay qualified out of the A, and took on Sherry Just in the semi-final, winning 6-4.  Just had taken on Heather Burnett earlier in the day, winning 9-7 in the quarter-final.  Barker and Burnett each leave with $700; Murray and Just with $900; and Shumay with $1200.

This is a new event for a great cause, featuring 8 men’s and 8 women’s teams! It includes a hot shots competition, with prizes up to $3200.
