SWCT Curling Talk [October 23rd]

Hello everyone! Here are some updates on the happenings of the past week.

Medicine Hat Charity Classic

Medicine Hat, AB

October 18-21, 2013

Participating Saskatchewan teams were Brett Barber, Chantelle Eberle, and Kelly Wood.  Eberle was the only team who qualified, taking an A spot and then losing the quarter-final to Alberta’s Casey Scheidegger, 7-0.  Eberle earned $1500 at this event.  Wood finished close, losing a C qualifier to Japan’s Sayaka Yoshimura.

Heritage Inn and Suites Moose Jaw Tour Spiel

Moose Jaw, SK

October 18-20, 2013

Qualifying teams were Just and Vey from the A event; Arguin and Englot from the B; and Stewart and Orsted from the C.  Stewart then played Englot in a quarter-final, losing 6-4, while Orsted beat Arguin 8-2 in the other quarter-final.  Vey took on Englot in a semi-final, winning 7-3, while Just took on Orsted, winning 7-5.  In the final, Vey won over Just with a score of 9-5.

Saskatchewan’s Stefanie Lawton will be playing this event.

November 1-4, 2013

GoodLife Prince Albert Ladies Cash Spiel

November 1-3, 2013.

Confirmed teams are: Selzer, Folk, Labach, Shumay, Wood, Barker, Martin, Swiderski, Yeske, and Bjork.

We still require a minimum of 2 more teams for this event to qualify for CTRS points! There is room for a total of 16 teams. If you have not yet entered a team and are interested, please contact Pat Bibby at (306) 961-5353 or bibby@sasktel.net

IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER

- To vie for the SWCT provincial spot, all participants must be affiliated members of the SCA. Team rosters must be declared on a SCA Playdown Registration Form. Competition Fee including the CCA fee must be paid to the Region Director, or the SCA Office by, November 1, 2013. Points accumulated prior to November 1, 2013 will count only if fees and forms are submitted to the Region Director or the SCA office by November 1, 2013. If registrations are received after November 1, 2013, only points obtained from the date of receipt of registration will be eligible.

- Registration for the following competitions can be done online from the SCA website: http://curlsask.ca/competitions/

- The entry deadline for the Women’s open Northern and Southern playdowns is 12:00PM, Tuesday, December 3, 2013 (as per the CurlSask website).

- Entry deadline for Junior Women's Q-Spiels are 6:00 PM, the Monday prior to the start of the bonspiel.  Q-Spiel #1 deadline is November 4, 2013. Q-Spiel #2 deadline is November 11, 2013. Q-Spiel #3 deadline is November 25, 2013 (as per the CurlSask website).
- Please refer to CurlSask website for the entry deadline for the Senior Women's Q-Spiels.
- The entry deadline for the Master Women's Provincials is 12:00 PM, Tuesday, February 4, 2014(as per the CurlSask website).
- The entry deadline for the Juvenile regional playdowns is 12:00 PM, Tuesday, February 18, 2014 (as per the CurlSask website).
- The entry deadline for the Dominion Women’s regional playdowns is 12:00PM, Tuesday, February 11, 2014 (as per the CurlSask website).
